Waiting on Wednesday

I hate waiting...
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog post by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights releases we're eagerly awaiting.

In a land where magic has been forgotten but peace has reigned for centuries, a deadly unrest is simmering. Three kingdoms grapple for power--brutally transforming their subjects' lives in the process. Amidst betrayals, bargains, and battles, four young people find their fates forever intertwined:

Cleo: A princess raised in luxury must embark on a rough and treacherous journey into enemy territory in search of a magic long thought extinct.

Jonas: Enraged at injustice, a rebel lashes out against the forces of oppression that have kept his country impoverished--and finds himself the leader of a people's revolution centuries in the making.

Lucia: A girl adopted at birth into a royal family discovers the truth about her past--and the supernatural legacy she is destined to wield.

Magnus: Bred for aggression and trained to conquer, a firstborn son begins to realize that the heart can be more lethal than the sword...

The only outcome that's certain is that kingdoms will fall. Who will emerge triumphant when all they know has collapsed?

Can we say kick-ass cover?! Because that's what this one is to me! It's simple, yet from what I am gathering from the cover description this cover speaks many volumes! And I love it! I loooove Maria V. Snyder's magic books and this one sounds right up my alley!

Review--Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

Will love conquer all?

Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch.

Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.

But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated.

As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

Finale is Becca Fitzpatrick's end to the Hush, Hush series, one that has been quite a thrilling tale! I know this series has gotten lots of mixed reviews, but it was one I liked a lot! Sure it had its moments where I was ready to pull my hair out wanting to slap Nora some, but that happens with any book these days!

My memory of Silence is practically non-existent! It's been wayyy too long and wayyyy too many books since I read the book, but luckily there were enough hints incorporated in the beginning of the novel that I got the gist of the main details. Nora is now in charge of the Nephilim. After killing Hank--her father and Marcie's--she's in charge since she swore an oath that cannot be broken without dire consequences.

Her friend, Scott and Dante are determined to help her, having promised a similar oath to Hank that they would. But the hard part is that the Nephilim are not warming up to Nora. She is only a newly made Nelphil after all and she's dating a fallen angel, their sworn enemy. The plot here wreaks of Romeo and Juliet in tiny ways, but trust me it's not a retelling!

Nora and Patch have to have a fake breakup, so that the Nephilim will be more open to Nora leading them. I thought this would mean next to no Nora and Patch time, but fear not, they stay together under the radar throughout the book! Although their relationship still has it's obstacles apparently, especially Dabria rolls back into their lives. This is when Nora gets really immature and I want to smack her, she's so obsessed with Dabria being close to Patch and whatnot, it's hard to believe that she is supposed to be our heroine.

Dante takes on training Nora to be ready for anything, mainly the fallen angels since we're close to Cheshvan. Then there's the issue of Devilcraft and Nora gets mixed up into that whole deal as well.

Despite some of the miscomings of Nora, the storyline was pretty good. She's training to lead the Nephilim and trying to keep her relationship with Patch secrets and thriving. But then there's also the fact that Vee is keeping her own secrets from Nora and that Marcie has decided she is moving in with Nora.

Yup, you read that right!

When it comes to series endings, you have your own expectations already lined up. With this series, I can't say I was expecting much, just for some resolutions and answers and yeah, some happiness. I wasn't too disappointed either. I still wonder about the fate of one character, but not too much. The ending was not without tears though. There were some definite shockers to occur in that last chapter before the epilogue. Yes, there's an epilogue.

As far as epilogues go, it ran a little cheesy, but still sweet. As did the ending in the final chapter as well. Cheesy, yet sweet. When it comes to getting to the HEA ending, you know some cheesiness is to be expected and when all is said in done, it wasn't too cheesy, just a little! So I was pleased with the ending is what I am getting to!

I have enjoyed this series from beginning to end, with the minor mishaps in between. It's definitely evoked a lot of emotions out of me, that's for sure! I look forward to seeing what Becca cooks up next year!
