Review--Unleashed by Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie

Katelyn McBride’s life changed in an instant when her mother died. Uprooted from her California home, Katelyn was shipped to the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, to her only living relative, her grandfather. And now she has to start over in Wolf Springs, a tiny village in the Ozark Mountains. Like any small town, Wolf Springs has secrets. But the secrets hidden here are more sinister than Katelyn could ever imagine. It’s a town with a history that reaches back centuries, spans continents, and conceals terrifying truths. And Katelyn McBride is about to change everything.

Broken families, ageless grudges, forced alliances, and love that blooms in the darkest night—welcome to Wolf Springs.

I love the writing style of Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie! Having read both the series that they write together, plus some of their own solitary work, I was super excited about Unleashed! And my hopes were not squashed or anything by this book!

I didn't really know what to expect from the book, I only knew that I was in love with the cover and the storyline. Who doesn't love werewolves any way?!

What was really different about this book was that it was told in only one person's p.o.v. Normally Nancy and Debbie have multiple narrators, so I was surprised to see that they only had one this time. But it was a pleasant surprise!

Kat was an interesting character. She starts off having a hard time with things. Her mother died in a fire recently and now she's forced to live with her grandfather in Arkansas, leaving California behind. And she's months away from being 18. But her grandfather wanted her there with him and for some reason she does comply instead of fighting it.

But the little town (and I do mean little) of Wolf Springs is a strange place. Kat is one of the few people who can't be let out after dark. She lives in a cabin in the woods with her grandfather who is way over protective. Things are just plain weird.

There is love trouble in the works as well. The typical love triangle. Both are handsome, tall, strong, one dark the other light-ish? Not sure how to really describe them. They seem like polar opposites. Think goth boy and preppy boy. One has a girlfriend and one has a criminal record apparently. Both are very mysterious so we get the typical cliches dished out into two totally hot guys! Still can't decide who I like better, maybe by the next book I'll have picked a "team".

The werewolf aspect takes awhile to form. But there are clues to the wolves here and there, there is an overall strangeness to the town. It seems to be full of mystery and not all of those mysteries are answered. There is still a lot I don't know about come the end. But it will just make the next book even better! There was a killer ending too, Nancy and Debbie seem to be fond of cliffhangers, you would think authors would know by now not to drive us readers crazy! But I digress.

This was just a freaking-fantastic kind of read! Loved it! Holder and Debbie have done it all: witches, vampires, and now werewolves! We got the classics down, I wonder what's next for the two in the years to come? So can't wait, but yet I hate waiting!
